User Orientation

Basic knowledge required for efficient searching and retrieval of information and the necessary skills required for proficient writing of scientific and technical reports is being imparted to the postgraduate students of the University by offering two courses namely PGS-501 & PGS-502 in both Summer and Autumn semesters. For convenience of students the courses are offered at four major Faculties of the University viz. FOH Shalimar, FOA Wadura, FVSc Shuhama and FOFy Rangil. Hundreds of postgraduate students are being educated through these courses. Moreover, orientation programmes are conducted on the onset of each undergraduate course across all faculties/colleges of the University to orient the newly admitted batches of students about the availability of information resources and their efficient use and delivery.

Training Programme:

The senior Library Staff along with other grown up Library Professionals conduct training programmes on regular basis. Generally two types of training programmes are conducted on need basis (i) one for library users (scientists and students) and the other (ii) one for library staff. Aim of the first type training programmes is to ensure optimum awareness level of library users about the availability of information resources in their fields of study and to enable them to make efficient use of the same. Whereas, in second type efforts are made to equip the library staff with state-of-the-art skills towards proficient operation of different library software/databases, record keeping and also to impart among them the necessary knowledge and managerial traits required for decent attending of their clientele.
