Agricultural technology information Centre (ATIC) is a “Single Window Technology Delivery System” introduced by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) which was promoted all over the country at every SAU, under National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP). Farmers, rural entrepreneurs, extension workers and citizens interested in agriculture are the targeted beneficiaries of ATIC.
- To provide a ‘Single window’ delivery system for the products and species available from an institution to the farmers and other interested groups as a process of innovativeness in technology dissemination at the institute level.
- To facilitate direct access to the farmers to the institutional resources available in terms of technology, advice, technology products etc., for reducing technology dissemination losses.
- To provide mechanism for feed-beak from the user to the institute.
- To provide testing and diagnostic services for soil, plant and livestock health etc.
- To disseminate information and create awareness among the farmers about improved agricultural practices and diversification of farming
- Educate growers through published literature, audio-visual aid and by making visit to ongoing farm experiments of different departments.
- To enable the organizations to generate resources through sale of their products, technologies and services for scaling up the activities without much dependence on plan funds.
- To get feed-back from the user to frame research programme in future.
- Sale Counter: ATIC sale counter is established to sell the different package of practices, fruits, vegetables, seeds of improved varieties, planting materials etc. obtained from various units of SKUAST-K and production centers.
- Consultation Room: A panel of experts/ scientists is regularly available at ATIC consultation room to clarify the farmer’s doubts and to solve crop and livestock related problems encountered by the farmers/visitors. In the event of need other experts can be contacted.
- Farm Diagnostic Visit:Depending upon the need ATIC organizes visits to farmer’s field by a group of scientists in order to diagnose diseases the problems and advice suitable control measures.
- Visual Exposure:Interested farmer/visitor can have visual exposure to the university technologies through visit of experimental fields; university museum and other displayed photographs at ATIC.
