Prof.  Mohammad Farooq Baqual (Associate Dean) College of Temperate Sericulture, Sher-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Mirgund started his service carrier way back during 1985 when he joined Sericulture Development Department Government of Jammu and Kashmir as sericulture officer. Having worked in different sectors of Department including seed production units and field, Dr. Baqual gained sufficient experience in the field of sericulture. Dr. Baqual obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Sericulture from one of the prestigious Institutes of Sericulture at Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Mysuru, Karnataka (INDIA) during 1983-84. He completed his Masters degree in Sericulture Technology from Mansagangotri University of Mysuru followed by PhD in Applied Botany during 2004 from the same University.  After having joined Sher-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir during 2001 as Assistant Professor cum Junior Scientist, Dr. Baqual worked as PI and Co-PI of many University and externally funded projects as well. Prof. Baqual  has also rendered his services in Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles Govt. of  India in the capacity of Deputy Director.  He has 65 National and International publications to his credit and has played key role in generating polyhouse technology for mass propagation of mulberry plants. Besides guiding MSc and PhD students Dr. Baqual also imparts instructions to students at Graduate and Post graduate level. In addition to being Gold Medalist he is also recipient of Senior Scientist Award, Prof. B. B. Kaliwal Award, Life time Achievement Award in Sericulture and Excellence in Research Award.  Making available quality mulberry wealth to stakeholders for their income augmentation through increased magnitude of silkworm rearing has been priority area of his concern.
