Veterinary Physiology

Veterinary Physiology has remained an important basic science in the degree course of veterinary sciences. In 1984 when the college of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry was established under SKUAST, the subject of veterinary physiology was an integral component of BVSc&AH degree programme. However, at the institution of FVSc&AH, Shuhama, it had only few Divisions, that included Division of ABPP encompassing  Veterinary Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology. Later in 2001 nineteen independent Divisions came into existence and Division of Veterinary Physiology was one among them. The Division of Veterinary Physiology has  sanctioned staff strength of one professor, two associate professors and three assistant professors, besides two FCLAs (field cum laboratory assistants), one accounts Assistant, one ACT (assistant cum typist), two laboratory attendants and one OCC. Unfortunately the Division has never enjoyed full staff strength from its inception till date. Presently Division has one professor, one associate and two assistant professors in place. The Division was only imparting undergraduate courses till 2017 because of shortage of teaching staff but has initiated postgraduate programme from 2017 onwards.  The Division has sufficient laboratory infrastructure, machinery and equipments to undertake academics and research activities.
