  • Clonal forestry with conifers and broad leaved species for rehabilitation of degraded forests.
  • Industrial forestry for cricket bat, veneer, paper and pulp industries.
  • Annual carbon sequestration in demarcated and plantation forests.
  • Productivity and carbon balance studied in agroforestry systems.
  • Production of quality plant materials for rehabilitation degraded forest ecosystems.
  • Ecological studies on grazing land ecosystems.
  • Eco-restoration of watershed catchments through Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT).
  • Provenance studies of different tree species.
  • Development of volume table of different social forestry trees.   
 Extension 
  • Transfer of Technology of latest forestry innovations to the State Forest Departments, NGOs, Social Forestry Department etc. through KVKs.
  • Demonstration on commercial production of quality plant materials of tree species for self-employment youth.
  • Popularization of forestry innovations through electronic media.
  • Arrangement of short-term training programmes for farmers and trainees to promote production of male poplars, production of cricket bat willow, energy through short rotation forestry and agroforestry models.
  • Technical advisory services to the state forest department, soil conservation department, social forestry department, farmers, NGOs and nursery growers.
  • Popularization of forestry technologies and creation of awareness among the stakeholders through KVKs.
